The developments in the case of her murder are rapid 45-year-old Stavroula Leventakis at Chaniawhich was ignored by the May 30, as new evidence that comes to light reveals the cruelty of the crime and the possible motive behind it.

According to information, the 43-year-old man who has confessed to the murder allegedly told the police that in the past he had love affair with the victim. As he claimed, the day of the crime preceded him intense fightinitially for issues related to the house he was renting from the 45-year-old and then for personal issues. According to his claims, the woman threatened him to reveal their relationship to his wife, which allegedly sparked further tension.

However, the police appear wary of the version presented by the perpetrator. They believe that the true motivations of the crime are deeper and seriously consider the possibility that the case is connected to love obsession or other personal differences, apart from disputes over the property.

The first evidence from the forensic examination of the body is particularly revealing. According to the information so far, the 45-year-old woman was found with her hands and feet tied with plastic cable ties (tie wraps), while the perpetrator had put insulating tape around her mouth six to seven times.

At the same time, wounds from a sharp object were found on the chest, but also serious blows to the head from a blunt object, probably a glass bottle. The final conclusions are expected after the completion of the autopsy.

How did the Authorities arrive at the confession?

The Chania Security Police had put the 43-year-old from North Macedonia at the center of investigations for days. His statements presented contradictions, while they did not coincide with the evidence gathered by the investigators.

The findings of the forensic laboratories played a decisive role. Blood stains found on the floor and on objects inside the 44-year-old’s house were identified with the DNA of Stavroula Leventakis. In addition, traces of blood were found in a white van used by the accused, but also in a mop confiscated by the police.

At the same time, the recording system of the residence is also under the microscope, as according to information the 43-year-old had deleted video footage from the days of interest to the survey. The police have proceeded with the process of recovering the files, while the lifting of the phone privacy is also being considered in order to determine if his claims are confirmed.

After hours of questioning, the 43-year-old allegedly “broke” and confessed to the crime, leading the police to a rural area, about five kilometers from the house where he lived.

The body of the 45-year-old woman was found there, buried in a bag. The fact that the site is close to houses and crops, where there is a daily human presence, makes an impression, which according to the researchers increases the risk taken by the perpetrator trying to hide the crime.

Banking transactions and possible misleading of the Authorities under the microscope

The investigations also extend to bank cards of the 45-year-old, as information is being looked into according to which it may have been used after her disappearance. The authorities are investigating the possibility that an attempt was made to create a false image that the woman was still alive, while it is also being examined whether another person was involved in the cover-up attempt.

At the same time, the 43-year-old’s wife is reportedly fully cooperating with the authorities. She has reportedly testified about what she knows about the case, saying she was shocked by the revelations and claiming she knew nothing about her husband’s criminal activity.

After the confession and the new evidence that has emerged, the 43-year-old is expected to appear before the judicial authorities for the charges that will be attributed to him, while investigations continue in order to fully illuminate all aspects of the case.
