Epstein: Another woman claims he continued to rape while serving his sentence

Jeffrey Epstein did not stop acting after his conviction in 2008. On the contrary, according to extensive new research by CNNtook advantage of the favorable terms of his plea deal with US authorities to continue abusing young women while he was theoretically serving his sentence.

This image is described in every detail by Rosa Giles, who speaks publicly for the first time. Her story reveals how the convicted felon kept his daily life almost unchanged despite wearing an electronic bracelet and being under surveillance.

Giles was just 18 when she moved from Uzbekistan to the United States to pursue a modeling career. As she tells CNN, shortly after her arrival she found herself trapped in a system of financial dependence on the modeling agency that represented her, which charged her exorbitant sums for visas, rent and other expenses.

When he considered returning to Asia, where he was already working successfully as a model, Epstein’s offer came to work on weekends as a receptionist at the Florida Science Foundation, an organization that had been founded shortly before his plea deal with the authorities.

Her first day there turned into a nightmare that she says marked her entire life.

In Epstein’s office he saw a woman massaging his feet. When he noticed the electronic bracelet on his ankle and asked what it was, he and the woman laughed. Shortly thereafter, Epstein asked her to remove her clothes.

“I froze,” she recalls. According to her testimony, the woman began removing her clothes before leaving the room, leaving her alone with Epstein, who raped her for the first time that day.

It was only later that she realized the device she had seen on his ankle was the electronic bracelet he was wearing because he was already serving a prison sentence for soliciting sexual favors from a minor.

The program that allowed him to move almost freely

As CNN recalls, the agreement that Epstein had reached with the then federal prosecutor Alex Acosta ensured him extremely favorable terms of detention.

According to the investigation by the Florida authorities made public in 2021, since October 2008 he worked as the president of the Florida Science Foundation.

Initially he could be at the institution’s offices from 10 am to 10 pm, six days a week. The restrictions were then relaxed further until he was required to spend only eight hours a day in prison, and shortly afterwards he was allowed to work seven days a week.

In the last weeks before he was transferred to house arrest, he was even allowed to visit his luxury residence in West Palm Beach.

In theory, he was not allowed to have contact with friends, relatives, partners or minors and was supposed to meet exclusively with business associates. However, according to the survivors, these restrictions did not prevent the continuation of his abusive activity.

Complaints about abuse next to police officers

Rosa Giles and two other women who spoke anonymously to CNN describe how Epstein did not hesitate to assault women even when there were uniformed police officers nearby, who had taken over his surveillance.

Palm Beach County police officers were on duty at the Florida Science Foundation, and there was also a police presence at his mansion.

Giles remembers a moment when she thought it was all going to end.

Going down one morning to the kitchen of the mansion she saw a man in uniform and thought that finally someone would help her.

Instead, she watched as the officer chatted and laughed with Epstein before leaving the house without saying a word to her.

“That’s when I knew no one was going to stop him,” he says today.

The role of the modeling agency

Her testimony also highlights the way in which young women were trapped financially.

She claims that the agency MC2 Model Management, whose owner was the French agent Jean-Luc Brunel, created large debts for her from the first moment.

He was charged thousands of dollars for the visa and an additional $1,500 each month for an apartment where many girls slept in bunk beds.

When she broke down in tears in front of Brunel, he called someone and within minutes $600 had reached her family in Uzbekistan.

This incident, she says, showed her that she had no control over her life.

Brunel was later arrested in France on charges of rape and sexual assault and was found dead in his cell in 2022.

“The state did not protect me”

Giles claims the nightmare continued even after she returned to New York in 2010.

Years later, she managed to move away from Epstein’s circle, gain financial independence, start a family and work as a gymnast.

However, she remained silent about what she had experienced.

As she tells CNN, she was shocked when the Justice Department released the case files, along with her name and personal correspondence with Epstein.

She now watches the other survivors demand the full disclosure of the case and the attribution of responsibility to his accomplices, but she does not yet feel ready to stand by them publicly.

Nevertheless, he believes that one day he will.

“I’m proud of all of them,” she says.

“I see their pain and I also see their courage. And courage, like pain, is contagious.”
