Charlize Theron gave an award-winning masterclass at the premiere of The Odyssey. A black dress with white gloves by Sarah Burton for the house of Givenchy that she wore on the red carpet, a red version of it but with black gloves for the after party and a hair look that was great in both looks – hairstyles were handled by hairstylist Adir Abergel – was enough to set the photographers’ flashes on fire.

According to the famous hairstylist, the idea for the hairstyles of the actress was created from the details that her dresses had. Both were carried in bows across the back, and this element served as the starting point for the hair. Adir Abergel even revealed that he envisioned these bows as an “echo” of the film’s poster. The aim was to create a hair shape with the same intensity as the dress – quiet and minimalist from the front, but full of structure and detail at the side and back.

Also, the famous hairstylist shared that he and Charlize Theron love to experiment with the styling of the actress’ frame. Each version is an opportunity to explore a new shape, silhouette and feel. For this look, she created a half-up half-down hairstyle with a purposeful ‘architecture’ that exuded elegance at the same time. It’s this balance of structure and femininity that makes it look modern, tailored and effortless – and of course designed to stand up to both a red carpet appearance and an after party.

To achieve this, Adir Abergel created the look in three steps. She prepped her hair with an anti-damage serum, then applied an anti-frizz cream to smooth the top and sides. Finished with a hair oil throughout their length for shine and softness and that was it.
